Procedure overview

A certified true copy can be issued for documents that form a complete text unit, regardless of the number of pages, such as administrative documents, contracts, and specifications or commitments booklets. Certification is done on the copy, regardless of the reproduction method.

The document may be a copy of the original or a photocopy. Certification may also cover only specific pages of the submitted document.

Steps

  1. The competent authority verifies full conformity between the original document and its copy.
  2. The following details are recorded on the certified copy: the authority’s stamp, the officer’s identity, title and signature, the date, the statement “Certified true copy of the original”, the fee collected, and the registration number in the dedicated register.
  3. The following details are entered in a dedicated register, numbered and endorsed by the competent administrative or judicial authority: serial number for each operation, date, summary of the document’s subject, applicant’s identity, officer’s identity (title and signature), and the fee collected. The relevant services must prepare these registers according to the required specifications.

Notes and conditions

  • Certification is prohibited for documents that violate public morals or undermine public order.
  • Documents submitted for certification must be written in Arabic or in a language commonly used by the relevant administrations.
